It is with great pleasure that we present the inaugural issue of the Teratai: Asian Journal of Children’s Literature. This journal is established as an academic platform dedicated to the study and discussion of children’s literature, particularly within Asian and cross-cultural contexts. Recognizing the important role of children’s literature in shaping literacy, imagination, values, and cultural understanding, AJCL aims to encourage rigorous and meaningful scholarly engagement in this field.

The articles featured in this first issue explore diverse perspectives on children’s literature and its educational dimensions, addressing themes such as literary analysis, cultural representation, character education, and literacy development. We sincerely thank the authors, reviewers, and editorial board members for their valuable contributions and support. It is our hope that Teratai will continue to foster academic dialogue and contribute to the advancement of research on children’s literature in Asia and beyond.
